The Contemporary
Pleasure Garden

Fitzroy, Melbourne
2022

Drawing on design principles from the Lingyin Temple complex in South China, the Contemporary Pleasure Garden seeks to create a peaceful, relaxed public space within the inner urban area of Melbourne. The garden features private pavilions for study and work, public pavilions for performances, gatherings, and leisure, as well as service pavilions for facilities. Private and public is delineated by basement levels, bodies of water, and hilled landscaping. The garden is one that speculates on what the future of social life may be.

Developed for Studio Beta, Bachelors year 2
